Miss Molly Trudgill
PhD Student

I graduated from the University of Southampton with an MSci in Geology in 2018, studying abroad in my third year at Pennsylvania State University. My PhD project looks at understanding large carbon cycle perturbations in the Phanerozoic; focusing on mass extinction events, where CO2 release, such as that associated with mass volcanism (Large Igneous Provinces), is hypothesised to lead to huge changes in the carbon cycle and ocean pH. Using boron isotopes, I hope to provide evidence for or against this ocean pH change and better understand the environmental changes surrounding some of the most extreme climatic events in our Earth's history.
